What we collect
What you give us: first name, age, city, photos, your shelf (what you love, hate and rate), likes and passes, messages, debate votes, blocks and reports, and the date you accepted these terms.
Dating preferences: your gender, who you want to see, the age range and whether you only want people from your city. Together, gender and who you want to see can reveal your sexual orientation, which is sensitive data: we only use them with your explicit consent, and we record when you gave it.
Location: only if you tap “Locate me”, once, to fill in your city. We keep the city name, never your coordinates.
Your account: an identifier created on this phone. If you save your account with Apple or Google, the email address they share with us (Apple can give a private relay address instead of yours). We never ask for your phone number.
Verification (only if you ask for the badge): a selfie copying a pose we ask for.
Technical: if you allow notifications, a notification token for this phone.
Why
To run Nosy (contract): build your shelf, compute how much you have in common with others, show your profile, let you chat after a match.
To suggest profiles that fit (your explicit consent): we only show you people you want to see and who want to see you, within your age range and, if you chose it, your city. You can withdraw this consent anytime in Settings › Who you want to meet; you then stop appearing in Discover.
To keep people safe (legitimate interest): handle reports and blocks, limit spam, hide profiles reported by several people until they are reviewed.
Automatic checks (legitimate interest): bios, stickers and messages are checked by an AI tool to spot harassment, scams and underage users. Anything it flags is reviewed by a person; nothing is removed or decided automatically.
Verified badge (your consent, when you send the selfie): a person from the Nosy team compares your selfie with your photos.
Who sees it
Other members see your first name, age, city, photos, bio, shelf, the taste portrait you chose and whether you are verified. Your gender, your preferences and your email are never shown; gender and preferences are only used to decide who sees whom. Only the person you matched with sees your messages. Blocked people see nothing of you.
Your verification selfie is only seen by the Nosy team, never by other members.
Our hosting provider Supabase stores the data in the European Union (Paris region).
For the automatic checks, bios, stickers and messages are sent to our AI provider Anthropic (United States). Anthropic does not use them to train its models, and the transfer outside the EU is covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
When you search for a title, the search words are sent to the catalogue services we use for covers (Apple, Deezer, TVmaze, TMDB, AniList, Kitsu, RAWG, Steam, Open Library, fanart.tv, Wikidata), from your phone or from our server. Nothing else about you is sent to them.
If you sign in with Apple or Google, they know you used it to sign in to Nosy, under their own privacy policies.
We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.
How long
Until you delete your account. A verification selfie is deleted as soon as it has been checked; only the result is kept. An account left before giving a first name is deleted after 30 days without use. Reports are kept for 12 months after review to protect other members.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, and object to some uses. Delete everything at once in Settings › Delete my account, or write to contact@nosydating.com.
You can complain to the CNIL (cnil.fr) or your local data protection authority.
Age
Nosy is only for people aged 18 and over. Accounts that look underage are removed.
